My sewing studio in the new place is a cute loft.
Cute usually means small. And it is small; but pretty functional.
On one side of my loft is a railing, looking over into the main living area. Hello down there!
You can see Miss Lily lounging on the rug, shedding little tufts of white fur!
This is how the loft looks from the hallway. You can see the printer and my sewing machine. And my great little pressing table. My sewing table is an old island countertop on top of free standing table legs.
This is my cutting table. I LOVE my cutting table. A lot of people have this table- it is a kitchen island from Ikea. Drawers, shelves and tons of space on top.
And this is my new Ikea desk. I met someone the other day who does not like Ikea. Really. Now, I suppose I would not want my entire house done in Ikea, but they have some really great things at reasonable prices. Works for me. This is just what I wanted.
And storage.
The area came with this handy little cubby area so hubby and I hung some shelves. Now I need to hand some sort of door. Or curtains. I was thinking about those sliding panels from Ikea (I know, but they really are great!). Then I thought I might buy their hardware and make my own panels. I wonder if I can make the panels into a design wall?
Still some decorating to do- and clutter maintenance! You can see I still don’t know where everything is going to go.
I need to hang a quilt or two, my rack for my scissors and cutters and either my old foam core design wall above the cutting table or investigate the hanging panel design wall idea. The only problem with the design wall above the cutting table is, well, being able to reach it! I need to be a little taller.
But it is my space, bright and soon to be pretty. Not a bad place to spend the day.
Off to sew some more…
happy quilting,
Kate
P.s. Next time we will show you more pictures of our Turkey pattern in McCall’s and have a giveaway for a magazine! Fun!
P.P.S. I just realized that the sewing table legs are from Ikea and so is the dresser that I stole from my bedroom for more storage. They should pay me to advertise for them! My loft is a messy Ikea commercial!
