Jim and I went to the Iowa State Fair this past weekend.
His sister Marie lives in Iowa and so we had a place to stay, family to visit with and fun things to do.
But, it was a long drive.
Twice.
Here are a few highlights.
Sunrise over the fields in Colorado.
The butter cow. You can’t go to the fair and not see the butter cow.
(Though I liked butter Abraham Lincoln better.)
Riding the sky rides with Blue Ribbon.
The quilts and all the other textiles displayed. Wow.
The horses, cows, sheep, goats… and the list goes on.
The super bull.
Oh my.
I promise not to touch. Over 3000 lbs of bull.
And then we ended up being part of “the crew” for Danny (Marie’s boyfriend who has a hot air ballon ride business). Cool.
Didn’t get to ride in the ballon; we were the set up, take down and chase crew! But that’s OK- we got “paid” in ice cream!
happy quilting,
Kate
