Luminous Quilt Along: Quilt Fabric Requirements

Hi friends!

Adventure in Color Fabric Post!

Today Tammy and I are sharing the fabric amounts, color chart and general directions for our quilt Luminous for the Adventure in Color Quilt Along.

Have you decided yet which color way you want follow? Or have you picked a whole new color scheme?

General Information on the Luminous Quilt Along Project:

The General Information handout just tells you basic stuff- you know, to use a ¼” seam, the supplies and tools you may find helpful (but are not required!) and a warning!

Warning! We list both the finished size of the block (the size once it is sewn into the quilt) and the unfinished size. Be sure to trim the block to the unfinished size- NOT the finished size!

Luminous Quilt Along Color Chart

The color chart will be very handy once you pick your fabrics for your quilt. It lists the fabrics we used and it includes a spot where you can place a snippet of your fabric. As you work thru the blocks, that can be very helpful to make sure you are following along and using your fabric A or your fabric C in the right spot!

Luminous Fabric Amounts

The last handout we have for you is the back of the pattern that lists the fabric amounts. Again, we have listed the fabrics we used along with images. You can refer to the image of the quilt and see where each fabric gets used in the quilt.

  1. I am thinking jewel tones. I usually go with the lighter background but I think I would go with the darker to make the blocks pop.

  2. I usually use bright colors and a light background, but this time I may go with softer colors like light purple and spring green plus a few others. I would probably still use a light background though.

  3. I love the colors of the ocean and sand, so I will be using blues and tan/yellows with a sprinkling of purple and green. Would love to win!

  4. I really love the bright colors shown here. I haven’t sewn with the Northcott Luminous collections yet. Thanks for the opportunity.

  5. I love Toscana fabric. I’ve used it in several quilts. Turquoise colors are my favorite colors, but the purple is sooo pretty. Maybe use both.

  6. I sometimes find myself in a rut using the same colors over and over. This Quilt Along is great as it is inspiring me to widen my horizons. For this quilt, I think I’ll use purples, teals and greens – the colors at the top of the picture of Northcott Fabrics!!

  7. I would use all the colors in this beautiful bundle! Its a beautiful pattern and the fabric in this bundle would be beautiful in it!

  8. These are beautiful and so cheerful, I think I might go with your color scheme. I’ve been so focused on making Christmas-colored quilts that I’m ready for at least one “spring-y” project.

  9. I will not be taking part of this quilt along after the way I waa treated even though I odered the first block and did not get it. I told them to keep the block and did want it sent to me.
