McCalls’s Quick Quilts COVER GIRL!

MQQ_COVER-FebMarch2016
McCall’s Quick Quilt Cover Girl!

It has been so fun to see pieces of my quilts gracing the covers of recent quilt magazines. Usually the quilt is in a pile with other quilts and you can see just a small section of my quilt. But this month- I am the cover quilt! Woo hoo!

I love this quilt. The fabrics I used were from the line Hazel by Allison Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew for Windham Fabrics. I wanted to use the fabrics but at first, I could not get them. But then a quilting miracle occurred and I had a FQ of most of the line. So this quilt will work with FQs!

It is a fun, quick quilt and best of all, you could make it bigger or small very easily.

I was lucky enough to get a couple of extra magazines this month, so I am going to share with you. If you would like a chance to win a copy of the magazine, leave a comment below.

Maybe you could tell me if you want to make the quilt using theses fabrics (McCalls has kits!) or if you have a pile of FQs that you have been saving that might be perfect for this.

Or just leave any old comment you want.

  1. Lovely quick pattern that would be great for a Project Linus quilt. I have fabric donated to me by a friend at Fabric Traditions, and this would work great.
Best of the new year to you. I look forward to your 2016 work.

  2. Congratulations on getting your quilt published on the cover of the magazine. I love the colors you used, however I have a quite a few fabrics that I have been gathering for quilts for my granddaughters and I think they will be lovely used for your quilt pattern.

  3. Your post really caught my eye when you mentioned “Hazel” as that was my dear mom’s name. She always said she’d never have any grandchildren named after her since it was such an old, ugly (in her words) name. I am happy there is a fabric collection named with Hazel! I would use a selection of my current fat quarters to make this quilt. I think it would look great as a baby quilt!

  4. Kate: I signed up for your newsletter! I will plan to make a baby quilt or maybe a couple of them in the SpringForth colors! So bright & cheery!!? Thanks for sharing your talent!

  5. No kits for me! I have a huge stash and this is a year for using what I have. I think this would be really pretty in reds, yellows, and blues, and I have a ton of those.

  6. Hi Kate! I wanted to get a kit from McCalls of your cover quilt/SpringForth & couldn’t locate the kit on their website? Help!☺️ Thanks!!

  7. Love the colors in this quilt. I think that I would use fat quarters fro my stash. I need to start using them. I just seem to add to my stash too often.

  8. Thank you for this giveaway – don’t subscribe to this magazine and would love to have a copy to make your quilt. Fantastic fabric selection.

  9. Congratulations on having your quilt on the cover! It’s a beauty! Love that it’s FQ friendly as I have lots of those.

    Happy New Year!
